this unit did not meet my expectations. i found its backlit screen to be unfriendly. the unit display turns off and then you cannot read it without pushing a button - which puts the unit into a different screen and requires more button pushing.

also, i found that turning furnace power off (we do that in the summer) killed the thermostat - so we would need to re-program the stat at least two times a year. NOT IDEAL!

the old non Wi-Fi stat did not have these problems. We are returning the Wi-Fi stat for a refund.
For less than $100, you get a 7 day programmable wi-fi thermostat. It's fantastic.
Now when I'm working late, or I'm going to be home early, I can override the settings from my smartphone to save power.
Set up is a little more than your basic programmable thermostat (obviously). But, follow the directions and it' will go smoothly.
If you're unsure about installing it yourself, there are videos online from Honeywell that walk you thru it, and offer some helpful tips.
**NOTE: this unit does not have batteries, and requires the blue \
Honeywell's Customer Service is THE WORST !!!! This review is purely based on the Customer Service of Honeywell. I had some issues with my Thermostat that I needed help with. So, I called their Customer Service number. I called a total of 8 times - 6 times I had to wait over 30 minutes on the phone & never reached a representative because I had to hang up. Who has over 30 minutes to wait on hold???? Twice when it seemed I was actually going to speak to someone, I was hung up on. After having no luck calling them, I tried emailing them. That did NOT turn out to be a better option. 24 DAYS later, I received a return email to my request for assistance w/ my Thermostat. This is what the email said - \
Took about 15 minutes to install once I figured out the wiring. Setting up the Wi-Fi and app on 2 phones was simple. Used carrier/Google search to find the wiring conversion. Much easier to control than the original carrier controller.
The screws are the downfall of this great item. Wobbles a bit due to the holes being low on the item. Needs staggard screw holes. Works well. I would recommend opening furnace first. Is your blue C wire hooked up... If so you are good to go. If not and not easily assessable, might want to hire someone. Unless you know wiring.

I bought this after putting in the same thermostat in the downstairs of the house. After I tried it out I liked it well enough to get the same one for the upstairs. I really like the app you can use from your phone to change the temperature and that's the main feature I was looking for when purchasing this. It occasionally will lose connection and I'll have to pop it off and pop it back on to reset it but it doesn't happen often enough to be a big deal. The online scheduler is the way to program it. Don't even bother setting it from the actual thermostat as it takes at least twice as long to do it that way. I would give it five stars except for the fact it occasionally loses connection.

The install was a snap, just gave it to my husband and said, here, install this. The first one took him about 20 minutes and the second maybe 15. Granted, he's good at this kind of stuff so if you're not you might want to hire a professional.
App and website are simple to use and very intuitive. Very easy to program the individual 7 day schedule. There are 4 different temperatures allowed per day which is adequate for typical use. (Sleep, wake, leave, return) Very happy with it. Handy if you get hot or cold while trying to sleep and don’t want to get out of bed.
This my second one for the second zone in the house. I very much enjoy to be able to make sure the temperature inside is ~52 when I am traveling and to turn it back up to have a warm house returning back home. Works reliably for a very good price.
I installed this thermostat on our house just before our winter vacation to FL. I set the temp low before we left, but then a particularly hard cold wave hit the area, so I was able to turn the heat up (to protect the pipes) at the house using my iPad or iPhone. When the weather moderated, I turned the temp back down. On the day we were to return home, I set the temp back up so the house would be warm when we got home. Pretty cool. You can also log in to the home thermostat and check to make sure the temp is ok while you are gone.

As other reviewers have mentioned, you need to have a common C wire to provide power to the unit. My old thermostat didn't use the C wire and the installer had cut it off. I was able to pull enough slack out of the wall to access the C wire. That saved me having to run new wiring. The Honeywell website shows an alternate method for wiring the unit if you don't have a C wire.

The thermostat is very accurate and it will even automatically switch between heat and a/c for those days in the spring and fall when you need heat at night and a/c during the day.

The cost is less than half for a similar unit at the big box home improvement stores. I think it is a very good unit and a very fair price.
